John Deere & Continental: A Growing Partnership

Back to blog

The close relationship between John Deere and Continental continues to grow, with the addition of Continental TractorMaster and VF TractorMaster tyres as OE options for the John Deer 6M and 6R product lines.  This addition underscores Continental’s growth strategy in the agricultural segment, with multiple leading manufacturers now offering Continental tyres as original equipment.

When purchasing a 90 to 300 HP John Deere, farmers will now have the option to specify Continental tractor tyres.  Specifically, the Continental TractorMaster and TractorMaster VF tyres, both known for increased durability and higher KMs.  The full range available includes different tyre sizes and widths, up to 800mm, with rim diameters of 46” and tyre diameters of up to 2.05m.

The partnership between Continental and John Deere has been steadily growing since 2019, when Continental Tractor70 and Tractor85 tyres were first made available for specification by John Deere customers.  “With the TractorMaster, John Deere is expanding its tyre portfolio with a test winner in the agricultural test segment, which stands for efficiency and cost-effectiveness” says Jend Mund, Key Account Manager for agricultural tyre original equipment at Continental Commercial Specialty Tyres.

The test win referenced was the 2019 certification of the TractorMaster when competing against other European premium tyre manufacturers in comprehensive testing by DLG, the German Agricultural Society famed for their exacting tests that go into incredible detail.

We are delighted that John Deere is expanding its tyre range with further tyres from us.

Both the new OE options, the TractorMaster and TractorMaster VF are characterised by a robustness that makes them ideal for New Zealand's variable conditions.  In particular, the durability and proven capacity to achieve a high number of KMs make them an attractive option.  These radial tyres feature Continental’s patented d.fine lug technology, resulting in a 5% higher lug surface area than comparable agricultural tyres.  This is coupled with the n.flex technology which ensures higher stability of shape and impact.  The tyre carcass is made from a stretchable nylon which lets the tyre absorb and mould to the ground surface without lasting deformation.  This makes for a much more comfortable ride, especially the following morning, as the tyre is able to return to its original shape, therefore eliminating flat spots.

A GROWING PARTNERSHIP

“We are delighted that John Deere is expanding its tyre range with further tyres from us” says Jend Lund.  “This underscores our growth ambitions in the agricultural sector”.  That growth started when Continental moved the manufacture of tractor tyres back in-house.  The TractorMaster and TractorMasterVF tyres are manufactured at the state-of-the-the-art Continental plant in Lousado, Portugal.

Continental Tractor tyres are now available as OE options for John Deere, New Holland, Fendt and Valtra.
